Coming soon. Sending from your own domain isn't switched on yet, so you can't set it up. This article describes how it will work.
Proposal emails can come from your own address, such as proposals@mail.example.com, instead of from Propozit's. You prove the domain is yours by adding three DNS records, and Propozit checks them for you.
It is on the Team and Agency plans. Before billing starts, and during the 90 days of Agency that existing organizations get, every organization can use it. Owners and admins set it up in Settings → Email. An organization has one domain at a time.
Which emails come from your domain
Only emails to your client about a proposal. Once your domain shows Verified, these use your address:
- the proposal you send, also when you send it through the API or an AI assistant;
- automatic reminders;
- the emails to the people who sign: waiting for the others, your turn, and a co-signer declined;
- the signed PDF to the people who signed;
- the payment request after signing.
These always come from Propozit's address:
- the security code your client enters to open or sign a proposal. The proposal page tells your client to expect it from Propozit, and codes keep arriving even if your domain has a problem;
- every email to you and your team, such as opens, change requests, your copy of the signed PDF and notices, and also invitations and sign-in codes.
Replies still go to the proposal's contact person, as before. The From address doesn't need a mailbox behind it.
Choose a domain
Use a subdomain you don't send other mail from, such as mail.example.com. Your own mailbox on example.com keeps its own DNS records, and a subdomain keeps the two apart.
You can't use a free email provider's domain, such as gmail.com, or a domain that another organization already uses in Propozit.
Add the DNS records
Propozit shows three records to add where your domain's DNS is managed.
- In Settings → Email, enter the domain and select Add domain.
- You see the records, usually an MX record and two TXT records, each with its host and value. Select Copy next to each one.
- Add them at your DNS provider exactly as shown. Some DNS providers add your main domain to the host themselves: then enter only the part before it, such as
send.mail.
DMARC is optional. If your main domain has no DMARC record yet, you can add a TXT record named _dmarc with the value v=DMARC1; p=none;. With p=none it states a policy without asking mail servers to reject anything. Propozit doesn't check it.
Wait for Verified
The domain shows Pending while the records are checked. This can take a few minutes, and up to 72 hours. Propozit checks again in the background, and Check now checks at once.
Once the records are found, the domain shows Verified and the next email to your client comes from your address. If they aren't found within 72 hours, it shows Failed: check the records, then select Check now. If that doesn't help, remove the domain and add it again.
From name and address
Under From, set the name your client sees and the part of the address before the @. The name starts as your organization's name and the address as proposals. Select Save.
Once the domain is verified, Send a test email sends one email from that address to your own account's address, so you can see how it arrives.
If your domain stops working
Every email still goes out. While the domain is Pending, Temporarily failing or Failed, emails come from Propozit's address, as before. If a send from your address is refused, Propozit sends it once more from its own address and checks your domain again.
When a verified domain stops working, or a pending one fails, every owner and admin gets one email about it from Propozit. If your plan no longer includes it, your domain is kept and emails come from Propozit until you upgrade.
Remove your domain
Select Remove and confirm. Emails to your client come from Propozit again straight away, and Propozit deletes the domain at Resend, the service that sends its email. Then delete the DNS records at your DNS provider.
To use a different domain, remove this one first, then add the new one.
