Use Propozit from an AI assistant

Set it up in three steps in Claude Code or Cursor, the seven tools, how drafting works, and the limits and safety rules.

Propozit has an MCP server at https://propozit.com/mcp. Add it to Claude Code or Cursor in three steps, then ask your assistant in your own words, such as "Which proposals are still waiting for a signature?" or "Draft a proposal for Halden Coffee: a new webshop, about six weeks". It works on every plan, with the same key, limits and rules as the API.

Setup in three steps

Owners and admins set it up in Settings, then AI assistants:

  1. Create a key for your assistant. Choose Read and write to list, draft and send (it asks before sending), or Read only to list and check status. Then select Create key.
  2. Copy this into your Terminal. The page shows one command with your new key in it. Select Copy, paste it in your Terminal and press Enter. We show the key only this once: if you lose it, create a new one.
  3. Start a new Claude Code session. Type /mcp to check that propozit is connected, then ask: "List my proposals."

It works in Claude Code in the Terminal and in the Claude desktop app's Code tab. The command looks like this:

claude mcp add --scope user --transport http propozit https://propozit.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer pz_live_…"

An API key works like a password. Don't commit it or paste it into a chat. Claude Code saves the header, key included, in its own settings on your computer.

Add it to Cursor

On the same page, select Cursor in step 2 to copy an mcp.json with your key in it. To keep the key out of the file, put it in an environment variable called PROPOZIT_KEY and use this instead. On a Mac, start Cursor from a terminal where the variable is set.

    "propozit": {
      "url": "https://propozit.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:PROPOZIT_KEY}" }
    }
  }
}

What it can do

Your assistant picks the right tool for what you ask:

  • whoami says which organization and key it is using, and whether the key can write.
  • list_proposals lists your proposals, by status, client or date. get_proposal shows one, with its status, client and link.
  • list_clients lists your clients.
  • draft_proposal drafts a new proposal from a description, with your templates, products and prices, as Describe a proposal does in the app. It never sends anything.
  • get_draft tells your assistant where a draft is.
  • send_proposal sends a proposal by email to up to 20 addresses, as Send does in the app. It is marked as an action that emails your client, so assistants ask you first, unless you've turned on auto-approve.

Drafting takes 20 to 60 seconds. Your assistant checks back until the draft is done, then gives you its link. Open the draft from that link and check it before you send it, as you would in the app.

Claude.ai organization owners in Claude's request-headers beta can add the key there, under Request headers. Name the header Authorization and give it the value Bearer pz_live_…: Bearer, a space, then your key.

Claude.ai and ChatGPT for everyone: coming soon.

Limits and safety

  • Every tool call counts as one API request toward your organization's daily limit. Listing the tools doesn't.
  • Each draft counts toward your daily AI drafts, as in the app, for the person who made the key.
  • Sending has the app's limits: on Free, the first send of a proposal counts toward 3 sent proposals a month, and each person can send up to 50 emails an hour.
  • A read-only key can't draft or send. Use one unless you want your assistant to do that.
  • Sending asks for your OK: your assistant should ask before it sends. If it doesn't, say no and check its settings.
  • You can revoke the key at any time, under Settings, API and webhooks. It stops working at once.
  • Your assistant sends us the tool and its arguments, such as a description or the email addresses to send to. That is the same data the API takes, and a description goes to the proposal AI. The privacy page has the details.
